"ENVIRONMENT AND CULTURE ALSO MATTER," SAYS DR. CUYEGKENG

QUEZON CITY, November 17, 2007 - Dr. Assunta Cuyegkeng, Vice-President of the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University and an outstanding chemist, says that in choosing a university where to pursue one's graduate studies, the environment and culture of that university also matter.

"The prestige of the university is important, but graduate schools are not the be-all and end-all of life. One's growth as a human person is also important," she adds.

Dr. Cuyegkeng graduated summa cum laude from the Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. She is also a Metrobank Outstanding Teacher awardee and an author of a book "Salamin", a collection of poems in English, Filipino and German. She earned her doctorate degree in Chemistry from the University of Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany.
